IT’S FESTIVE ~ IT’S FINE
Oscar Wilde was regarded as one of the greatest playwrights, novelist, poet and critic but for me it were his quotes that I liked, two in particular.
“Women are made to be loved, not understood” and “Everything in moderation, including moderation”.
So let’s discuss the easy one, “moderation”….
With the festive season upon us it is very hard not to over indulge this time of year but instead of restricting your intake, skipping meals, over exercising and feeling guilty about all of the above, I want you to embrace the month of December knowing that in a few weeks things will be back to normal.
December and January is traditionally a fantastic time to be around friends, family, work colleagues and others to reflect on the year that was, the good, the bad or the indifferent. The “Festive” season isn’t a time to put added pressure on yourself because you want to looked buffed for the beach or you wish to squeezed into those bikini’s you lay-by for Christmas. It is exactly the opposite, a time to be “Festive”!
We all know that certain foods are better than others. We all know that if we drink too much we will get drunk. We all know that everything in moderation is OK. However, very few of us actually apply it. The beers, the Sav Blanc, the burgers, or the chocolate isn’t the problem. The frequency and more importantly the quantity is the real problem.
So like anything else you do in life, saving for a house, paying off your credit card, planning a holiday, starting your own business or climbing the corporate ladder you need to have a strategy. So now is the time to design your “festive strategy” structured around socialising, indulging, resting and recovering, taking one thing into consideration, NOT restricting or eliminating, simply MODERATING.
So here is cheers to you all!
I hope you have a wonderful festive season with those that matter, keep safe, happy and more importantly healthy.
